Bidyadanga Photo Collective - Bidyadanga
Camera Story worked with Boome Circle to establish The Bidyadanga Photo Collective in 2021. The collective is a group of women from the Bidgyadanga Community interested in photography, the arts and employment opportunities. Predominantly consisting of Martu women, the group has been documenting themselves, each other and their community for the last four years.
In 2022, the women showcased their first collective exhibition in both Bidyadanga Community and Broome, titled, Ladies New Look.
Providing a unique insight into the everyday lives of First Nations women living in remote community, the work by the artists is raw, real and gives individuals autonomy over their own stories.
Camera Story returns frequently to Bidyadanga to work alongside the Bidyadanga Photo Collective supporting women in the development of their work including touring exhibitions and enterprising opportunities.
